In common with most birding clubs we keep a list of birds seen by our members and you can find the current list by clicking on the link below. Certain rules have to be followed for the bird to be accepted on to the list and these are shown below. We’re in the process of compiling a list of species seen worldwide on GBC events. At the last count this stood at 1,257 species. This is based on our UK list and trips to Majorca, USA, Australia, Switzerland, Costa Rica, France, Poland, India and Gambia.
The UK GBC bird list stood at 349 species in May 2020 with 11 species in the supplementary list.
We hope the list will give you a feel for some of the bird species you might see on a GBC event.
The rules: a bird has to be seen or heard on a GBC event advertised in the GBC Calendar or in Out Birding. It must be recorded by at least four Club members, unless fewer than four attend. In this case, so long as there are at least two members present, all members must see or hear the bird. The list only includes species seen at the advertised site(s).
